Mary’s Wedding

Formerly in the Irish Packet

Step we gaily on we go
Heel for heel and toe for toe
Arm and arm and rolling go
All for Mary’s wedding

Over hill ways up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the sheeling, through the town
All for sake of Mary

Red her cheeks as rowans are
Bright her eye as any star
Fairest of them all by far
Is my darling Mary

Plenty herring, plenty meal
Plenty peat to fill her creel
Plenty bonny bairns as well
That’s the toast for Mary
